  • CHM means 'Compiled Windows HTML Help files'. A CHM file is a compressed HTML Help metafile. The CHM file contains all the files in your help project in compressed format. It uses a special technology to combine HTML files into one file with a special directory, index, and file structure similar to a compressed drive. The CHM is specifically designed to display a Microsoft HTML Help system in Microsoft's HTML Help Viewer.
